The following individuals were recognized at the Alumni Dinner on October 14 during Homecoming festivities.

Honorary Membership in the Alumni Association In 1950, the Alumni Association created a means to honor significant individuals who are not alumni of the College by making them honorary members of the Alumni Association.

Ronald C. Mullennix Ron lives in Liberty and is married to Kathy. They have three children: Jeff, Julie, and Janet. Ron has a B.A. in Economics and a J.D. from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Ron is a shareholder in the law firm Withers, Brant, Igoe & Mullennix, P.C. in Liberty. His primary areas of practice are estate planning, probate and trust administration. Ron is also the president of College Hill Investments. He has served as counsel for William Jewell College since 1987, and he has also worked in the development office. Ron supports many worthy causes through the Northland Community Foundation and is an Honorary Trustee for the Liberty Hospital Foundation. Ron has been an advocate for the Jewell Fund, the Department of Nursing, and numerous other initiatives over the years. His wife Kathy graduated from Jewell in 1988 with a degree in Nursing.

Robert J. Saunders Bob and his wife Clara Beth live in Liberty. He earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Kansas City (now UMKC). He earned a Master of Public Administration, City Management from the University of Kansas. Currently, Bob is the President of Organization Consultants. His practice utilizes his years of experience in the public sector, and he spends the majority of his time working with city municipalities in strategic planning, job searches, policy leadership and management development. He was the Mayor of Liberty from 1991-1995, and he also served on Liberty's City Council. He is a member in many community organizations including Rotary, Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce and Clay County Economic Development Council. Bob has spent many years "cultivating" town/gown relations as a friend of WJC and a city leader. He served as co-chair for the Dollars for Scholars Program for several years, and he co-chaired the community subcommittee of Jewell's Sesquicentennial Celebration. Bob served on the Business Advisory Council as well as the Career Mentoring Commission. Bob and Clara Beth are also charter members of Alexander Doniphan Society.

DISTINGUISHED YOUNG ALUMNI SERVICE AWARD The Young Alumni Service Award is bestowed upon a graduate of the College from the last fifteen years who exhibits meritorious service to the Alumni Association and shows evidence of loyalty to the College.

Michael Hodges Dermody ‘92 Mike lives in Liberty with his wife Carrie and their newborn son Gannon. Mike graduated from Jewell with degrees in Communication and History, and subsequently obtained a J.D. from Oklahoma City University in 1995. He is currently serving as a pharmaceutical sales representative for GlaxoSmithKline. During his time at Jewell, he was a four year varsity letter winner in Cross
Country and Track, a member of Phi Gamma Delta and on the leadership of the Interfraternity Council. Mike joined the graduate association of Phi Gamma Delta in 2002 and assumed the position of graduate advisor in 2004.

M. Tyler Griffin '01 Tyler recently relocated to London, England, where he works for Cerner Corporation as the Engagement Leader responsible for Cerner's Deployment Management Office in the London Cluster. Tyler graduated from Jewell with degrees in Business Administration and Psychology. While at Jewell, he served as a First-Year Mentor and Pryor Leadership Fellow. During his junior year he studied at Harlaxton University. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and Who's Who in American College's and Universities. Tyler has served the College as the Alumnus Advisor for the Kappa Alpha fraternity for three years, and he currently serves as a member of the fraternity's alumni advisory committee. He also served on the Greek Strategic Plan Steering Committee. In addition, he participated in the William Jewell Career Mentor Program and supported the Career Services Etiquette Program.

Mark G. Stingley '74 Mark lives in Lenexa and is married to Cyndi Reames Stingley '75. They have three children: Jeff, Erin '06, and Kyle '08. Mark graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1974 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He received his J.D. in 1977 from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. Mark is a partner with the international law firm of Bryan Cave LLP, and currently serves as the litigation coordinator for the Kansas City office. Mark has served on a number of community boards including the Epilepsy Foundation for Western Missouri and Kansas, the Downtown Council for Kansas City and Friends for Parks and Recreation. As a student, Mark held leadership positions in the Sigma Nu fraternity, J-Club, the swim team, was a member of Student Senate, the Interfraternity Council, and several academic honoraries. Mark was instrumental in facilitating numerous improvements to the softball complex over the last several years and worked hard to acquire new scoreboards for the softball and baseball fields in 2005. Mark was also a driving force behind the revival of the Jewell "Law Lunch" held in downtown Kansas City for practicing attorneys and WJC students interested in the law profession.

JOHN F. TRUEX AWARD FOR LIFETIME ALUMNI SERVICE The John F. Truex Lifetime Alumni Service Award is bestowed upon a graduate of the College who has exhibited meritorious service to the Alumni Association and shows evidence of significant loyalty to the College. It is intended that this award will honor lifetime contributions of service.

Juarenne Moore Hester ‘55 Juarenne lives in Liberty with her husband Art Owen. She has one child, Gregory Isley. Juarenne graduated in 1955 with a major in Psychology and was a member of the Beta Sigma Omicron sorority which later became Zeta Tau Alpha. Juarenne
received her M.A. in Education from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 1968. She was the Head of the Language Arts Department at Liberty Junior High School and taught English for 34 years. Juarenne also served the College as an adjunct professor of Education and English. Juarenne has been tireless in her advocacy for Liberty, the performing arts, and William Jewell College. Her service includes the Liberty City Council, Co-founder and President of the Board of the Corbin Theatre, President and Board Member of the Clay County Museum Association and Historical Society, Chair of the William Jewell College Sesquicentennial Committee, Board member on the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City, Elder of the Liberty Presbyterian Church, and President of the Liberty Hospital Foundation. She received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 1988. In 2004, Juarenne received the Anne Robb Townsend Tribute to Excellence Award. That same year she received the Governor's Humanities Award for "Excellence in Public Involvement," for her two years of work on the book commemorating Liberty's 175th Anniversary. Juarenne was honored for her many contributions to the College but specifically acknowledged were her service to the Sesquicentennial Committee, the Alumni Board of Governors, the WJC Woman's Committee, the Dollars for Scholars Program, and the Sorority Complex and Greek Common Steering Committee.
