Senior Day Tailgate
Baseball and Softball Tailgate
Saturday, April 8
The Men's Baseball and the Women's
Softball teams were honored on their
respective Senior Days. A tailgate
lunch was grilled in an area adjacent
to the Polly Grant Memorial Baseball.
The men battled Baker University while
the women challenged Central Methodist
University in a doubleheader.

members traveled from Washington
State and Illinois to support
WJC players Justin and
Jon Ubbenga. |

and Kansas as well as Arkansas, Illinois,
Texas, Oklahoma, and Washington State gathered
to celebrate these two teams.

Alumni Reception
Lee's Summit, Missouri
Sunday, May 7
An area reception for Jewell alumni
living near the Lee's Summit area
was held at the home of Russ '71 and
Melanie (Griffin '78) Cline with over
twenty alumni and friends of WJC attending.
Dr. David Sallee, President of the
College, related news of "the
Hill" and took questions from
attendees. Guests enjoyed meeting
alumni from the area and hearing the
latest Jewell news. |
Cardinal
Club Luncheon
Chappell's Restaurant and Sports Museum
North Kansas City, Missouri
Monday, May 15
Nearly 40 alumni and friends of the College
attended the spring Cardinal Club luncheon
on May 15th. The coaching staff gave exciting
updates on the final standings for the current
year as well as recruiting efforts for next
year. Coaches shared the news that eleven
track and field members would compete in
the national championship and the Men's
Baseball team made it to the championship
tourney. Missouri State Representative and
Jewell grad Tim Flook '89 presented Head
Men's Basketball Coach Larry Holley with
a Missouri State Proclamation for his 700
career wins. The Cardinal Club presented
Jim Chappell, the owner of Chappell's, two
composites from the 2006 Missouri Sports
Hall of Fame induction to thank him for
his continued support of Jewell. Cardinal
Club lunches will resume in the fall. If
