Insight into Admission Events
By Alexis Small, Admission Events Coordinator/Admission Counselor
Each year, William Jewell’s Office of Admission hosts twenty-seven events with the intent of spreading the word about what a liberal arts education from William Jewell has to offer students. Each fall starts with the Counselor Summit, an opportunity to educate high school guidance counselors about William Jewell as they begin to advise high school students through the college process. After Counselor Summit, Jewell hosts a variety of events, including Journey to Jewell, an opportunity for prospective students to stay overnight on campus with student “innkeepers”, attend classes, meet with faculty and coaches, and hear current William Jewell students talk about their experiences on “The Hill.” Alumni involvement is so critical to the success of our student recruitment events. By sharing with friends and family the wonderful experience that Jewell provided, alumni can encourage others to check out Jewell and participate in our campus events.
Other events, such as Fall Fest, Jewell on Display, and Football/Baseball Days allow prospective students, who are seniors in high school, to meet with their admission counselor, faculty, and coaches. They also take a campus tour and have the chance to ask Jewell students personal questions regarding their college experience through a panel discussion.

In February, the Office of Admission hosts two Scholar Recognition Day events. These two days are held with the intent of rewarding students for their high school achievement.
After Scholar Recognition Day, the rest of the spring semester is devoted to high school juniors. Winter Warm-Up and Journey to Jewell focus on the college selection process and gives students the opportunity to attend classes, meet with faculty and coaches and tour the campus.
Currently the Office of Admission offers two ways that individuals can register to attend these events. The most convenient way to register is to go online at www.jewell.edu, or call 888-2JEWELL.
