If you're like me, you sometimes get tired of hearing the bad news. Reports of crime, wars, natural disasters, and economic woes always seem to make the headlines, but the good news of people helping people, economic success, and improved lives seldom gets mentioned.

What Is SIM?

SIM is a community of God's people who delight to worship Him and are passionate about the gospel, seeking to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ in the world.

SIM has more that 1,600 active missionaries serving in over 40 countries on 5 continents.

Thanks to an exceptional outpouring of support, the famine never materialized.

Last spring, the people of Kaffrine in Senegal watched helplessly as their crops withered and died in the fields. Without irrigation, they depended entirely upon the rains to water their crops, and this year, the rains failed them. The rains started late and ended early leaving no time for the crops to mature before the dry season began.

The young woman rushed from her literacy class with a spring in her step and joy in her eyes. Could this possibly be the same woman who just months before sat lethargically without a hint of a smile on her face? Yes!

As the old Chinese proverb says, “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.” That philosophy underlies SIM's Mototaxis for Missions program in Peru--but we take it one step further: give a man a fishing pole and he will feed himself for a lifetime.
