You Can Help Change the World: By Prayer
Please join SIM in praying for these needs and opportunities around the world.

Remember the Persecuted

Our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering at the
hands of those who oppose the gospel. Christians in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and other countries have been arrested, imprisoned, and even killed for their faith. Believers have also seen their homes and churches burned.

As I read through the article about the pastors' book-sets, my mind went back to last summer when I spoke at a Pastors' Library Project conference in Ethiopia. It was, indeed, an exciting time for everyone involved.

I had the privilege of teaching the principles of expository preaching to more than 200 pastors; most had never received that kind of instruction. I also showed these men how to use many of the tools in their book-sets.

They were so appreciative of what they had learned, and so convinced of its value, that they asked again and again for us to return and teach these things to even more pastors. They offered to open their churches and organize seminars, if only we would come and teach--and bring more pastors' book-sets. Each one of them, it seemed, knew of many others who could use the materials and the training if only it were made available.

God is truly using your gifts to this program to impact lives! But our Pastors' Library Project is just one small corner of SIM's efforts around the world. Whenever you give to SIM, you are touching hearts and lives in so many ways!

In this issue of Harvest alone, you'll read about the SHALOM Center in India where we are reaching out with Christ's compassion to those who are infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

You'll also read about a new Lighthouse Center that will provide Chinese men and women with the resources they need to make their marriages and families successful. In addition, the Lighthouse will teach Christian principles to children, guiding them into biblical lifestyles and helping them make wise choices.

But perhaps the most important article you'll read is on how you really can make a difference "By Prayer." So as I close, I'd like to add one more prayer request.

Our partner missionaries from Nigeria and Ethiopia are accomplishing great things in Sudan. But because the situation in Sudan is so intense, they need to get "refueled" often. Our plan was to bring them to Kenya to recuperate, but Kenya has recently stopped issuing visas to Nigerians.

That means we have to send them all the way back to Nigeria--which is complicated and expensive. Please pray that God would work in this situation and once again allow His Nigerian servants into Kenya for the rest they need. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!
