As I read through the article about the pastors' book-sets, my mind went back to last summer when I spoke at a Pastors' Library Project conference in Ethiopia. It was, indeed, an exciting time for everyone involved.
I had the privilege of teaching the principles of expository preaching to more than 200 pastors; most had never received that kind of instruction. I also showed these men how to use many of the tools in their book-sets.

Remember the Persecuted
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering at the hands of those who oppose the gospel. Christians in Ethiopia, Nigeria, and other countries have been arrested, imprisoned, and even killed for their faith. Believers have also seen their homes and churches burned.
Pray that God would protect His people and give them strength to remain faithful. |

Pray also that God would use their suffering to grow His Church.
Remember the Sick
Your prayers can make a difference for those infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Pray that people living with HIV will come to know the God who is full of compassion. Pray that their families and communities will show them compassion and not rejection. And pray that caregivers will be able to provide quality care and not be overwhelmed by the enormous need. Your prayers will help extend compassion and comfort to the suffering and strength to those who serve them.
Remember the Privilege
In one country where the government has increased its persecution of Christians, believers are forbidden to meet for prayer or worship. When these believers meet, they must sing and pray in whispers so they will not be heard. Even so, some are caught.
When asked what we, as Americans, could do to help, they replied, "First, we want you to pray for us. You are in a free land, so you can pray loudly!"
Thank God that we can pray out loud, even loudly if we feel like it. Pray earnestly for those who risk fines, imprisonment, or worse for meeting together for prayer.
