NEW
ORLEANS
Amid the unforgettable images of devastation from
Hurricane Katrina, a team of eight missionaries
and employees from the SIM USA office in Charlotte
traveled to New Orleans and spent a week working
with members of churches that have supported SIM
missionaries. Here is their report:
"New Orleans was hot and humid. We tore out
carpet, drywall, paneling, doors, and molding and
carried it to the mountainous heaps that lined the
streets. We carried out cherished furnishings and
decorations that were beyond salvage and comforted
people as they watched their possessions being mashed
by a front-end loader and added to truckloads of
other peoples' ruined treasures.
"We were blessed by the opportunity to put
a little something back into churches that have
stood by SIM in the past." |

One grateful home owner sent this note to SIM: "Words
cannot adequately express our gratitude for the dedication
and hard work of the wonderful team who came to help us
repair and restore our home. We appreciate your faithfulness
in prayer and in being 'doers of the Word and not merely
hearers.' You have truly been a blessing and encouragement
to us." |
