Whenever I consider the breadth and diversity of SIM's programs, I am reminded of Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 9:22: "I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."
Even in this issue of Harvest, you can see how SIM is committed to using all possible means to share the gospel.
You can read about our Maninka Audio Media Outreach (MAMO) in Guinea. This relatively unpublicized ministry of SIM could have a powerful impact in an oral community that has been resistant to the gospel for more than 90 years. God's printed Word has little impact in this mostly non-literate society, but the dramatic audio Scriptures--recorded in the typical style of the Maninka storytellers--are drawing crowds wherever they are played.
The Duncan Academy in India is using a school setting to provide community children with both a quality education and an introduction to the life-changing hope of the gospel of Christ. As these children are introduced to their Savior, they are taking that message of hope back to their families and entire communities are being influenced by the gospel.
In Ghana, we are opening doors for the gospel by providing for the physical needs of people who lost everything to the devastating floods of 2007.
SIM doesn't take a "cookie cutter" approach to ministry. Wherever we go, we carefully consider the circumstances, the available resources, the needs of the people, and the leading of God to determine how we can most effectively share the hope of the gospel. Then we move forward--often into uncharted territory and always on our knees--with the hope and prayer that God will bless our efforts.
We thank you for your financial support and especially for your prayers as we continue to become all things to all men so that by all possible means we might save some.
