I
strongly believe that biblically, missions rise out of
the local church. In the first century, the church in
Jerusalem sent Peter, Paul, Barnabas, Silas, and many
others to preach the gospel, make disciples, and plant
churches.
At SIM, we believe the Church is still called to be the
source of missions. As a mission organization, our job
is to partner with churches and equip them to fulfill
Christ's Commission. In addition, we partner the
church "here" with the church "there"
to form mutually beneficial relationships that strengthen
both churches and empower them for more effective ministries.

"God
is clearly using SIM missionaries
to accomplish great things in Sudan,
but every one of our missionaries
still needs your continued prayers."
|
As SIM missionaries settle into Sudan, they
must overcome incredibly difficult circumstances.
After years of civil war, Sudan has almost
nothing left--no buildings, no electricity,
no running water, and no roads.
Despite these challenges, our missionaries
are training teachers, instructing pastors,
and helping communities obtain safe water,
medical care, and other necessities of life.
And they are sending back exciting reports
of how God is at work in the nation of Sudan.
For example:
| • |
The top military commander near Abwong
asked our missionaries to teach his soldiers.
Praise God that many of them are now attending
a newly formed church! |
| • |
In Doro, a powerful witch doctor challenged
our missionaries to prove God's power
to him. God used SIM missionaries to explain
the truth of Christ, and now we can praise
God for his miraculous conversion to Christ! |
| • |
Near Abwong, SIM trained 45 church
leaders in evangelism methods and sent them
out into the nearby villages to share the
gospel. As a result, 35 Sudanese received
Christ in one week. Praise God! |
God is clearly using SIM missionaries to accomplish
great things in Sudan, but every one of our
missionaries still needs your continued prayers.
Pray for their safety. Pray for the effectiveness
of their work. Pray for the 5 million displaced
Sudanese who are returning to their homeland.
And pray that God would continue to grow and
bless His Church in Sudan.
