As I write you today, I have the great privilege of being in Ethiopia teaching at the Evangelical Theological College of Addis Ababa. Although I sincerely hope my students learn much from my classes, I know I have much to learn from them as well.

As I attended church services here, I was thoroughly impressed by the intensity of their prayer, their unrestrained joy in worship, their fervent response to the Word, and their passion for sharing the gospel.

It was a time of crisis for the little church in Yagaba. The man who was going to be their pastor had just died, and with no one to lead them, some questioned whether the little flock would continue to gather.

But in God's Kingdom there is never really a crisis. Long ago, God had prepared a young man named Joseph Agana to meet their need.

Joseph, a recently appointed missionary with EMA (the missionary branch of SIM's partnering church in Ghana), had already received two years of training at SIM's Bible Training Center. He had a passion for sharing the gospel, understood local customs, and was a fluent speaker of Mampruli, the local language.

Week after week Joseph made the long, six-hour round trip on his bicycle from his village to the church in Yagaba. He led them in worship and Bible study. For years he discipled the believers, and before long, he had trained three men who were able to take over leadership of the little flock.

Joseph's mission there was accomplished, but he had much more to do for the Lord. With the Yagaba church in capable hands, Joseph peddled his way to the nearby Muslim villages of Zamwara and Kubori and soon established churches there.

Today, thanks to the support of friends like you, Joseph continues his missionary efforts. He fills his schedule with prayer meetings, youth gatherings, and literacy classes while taking Theological Education by Extension classes to keep him growing closer to the Lord. He has also peddled his way to three more villages--Kanteem, Gwariba, and Tageba.
And he has done all of this despite a leg problem that troubles him--especially when he bikes long distances. Please continue to pray for this dedicated servant of Jesus Christ that he might continue to bear much fruit for the Lord.
