When Christ returns, He tells us He will reward those who loved and served Him. "Come," He will say, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed

me . . . [for] whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me" (Matt. 25:34–40).
While the spiritual condition of our hearts is of eternal importance, God also cares deeply about our physical and emotional needs. That's why so many SIM ministries have both physical and spiritual facets. In everything we do, we want to emulate the heart of Christ!
Our Community Development Programs in South Asia and our Sports Friends Program in Ethiopia are just two examples of literally hundreds of SIM sponsored programs that meet physical and spiritual needs at the same time.

But none of our ministries would succeed without dedicated Christian servants who share the heart of Christ and see people with His eyes of love and compassion. Gerlinde Skaggs was one of those people.
|
When I attended her funeral, I was blessed by many stories about how Gerlinde had compassion on those nobody else even noticed. I remember one story in particular about a girl in Kenya with a history of epilepsy. Others may have ignored her, but Gerlinde took the time to teach her to read. That's just the kind of person Gerlinde was.
Please pray for all those who knew and loved Gerlinde as they go through this time of loss. Pray also that God would raise up more people like Gerlinde who will lovingly share the gospel while meeting the physical and emotional needs of hurting people around the world.
Finally, please pray for more people like you--people who share the heart of Christ and are willing to sacrifice their time and treasures to support the vital work of SIM around the globe. Your prayers and gifts are greatly appreciated. Thank you, and God bless you!
