Most of us have heard the staggering statistics associated with the HIV/AIDS pandemic, but only a handful of us in America have ever seen tears in the eyes of a fatherless child, heard the cries of an orphaned infant, or attended the funeral of a loved one who died from the disease.
In Africa, the opposite is true. People may not know that 60 million people have been infected by HIV, but they know how their own lives have been affected by AIDS. Everyone, it seems, knows someone who is living with--or has died from--the disease.

| In 2006, more than 400 Peruvian believers received training and resources through SIM's theological education assistance program--a vital part of meeting the spiritual needs of the rapidly growing church in Peru. |
Recent statistics indicate that the evangelical church in Peru has doubled in size over the past 10 years. Although this is great news, it also presents the tremendous challenge of finding qualified spiritual leaders to shepherd these new believers toward maturity.
SIM’s
theological
education assistance
program is a vital
part of meeting that
need by helping the
Peruvian church
grow not only wide,
but also deep.
SIM uses your
gifts to provide
books and other
resources to Bible
colleges and seminaries, as well
as scholarships for students and
grants to help theological training
institutions continue their vital
work of equipping spiritual leaders
for the people of Peru.
Your gifts also purchased study Bibles for graduates of a three-year biblical training program for rural pastors. "The study Bibles have been a great blessing. . . . There are so few resources available [for rural pastors], so it was great to be able to give them such a great tool."
Damaris Rivas, a graduate of Lima Seminary, summarized the entire program well when she said, "I thank God for the generosity of the brothers and sisters who are supporting this ministry through SIM. . . . Without such support, many true leaders would not have the opportunity of an adequate preparation to serve better in their ministries. The glory and honor are for God." |

Thank you for being God’s
instrument in making these
programs possible.
