Whenever I read reports from Claudia Long about Camp
Youth Alive (click here),
my mind travels back to a special camp I attended when
I was just a kid. To this day, I consider that camp one
of the most significant influences on my entire life.
Every summer that camp challenged me to live out the Christian
life, to reflect Christ at school, to be a witness for
Him, and to share the gospel whenever I could. It was
a tremendous opportunity to get away from my normal routine
and focus my attention wholly on Christ.

Camp Youth Alive brings help,
hope, and the joy of salvation to Nigeria's youth
As Claudia Long walked through the cities and villages
of Nigeria, her heart ached. She saw the many struggles
the children faced, and she longed to help them--but how?
In addition to the normal challenges of growing up, many
of these children faced poverty, hunger, and the devastation
of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. And with limited opportunities
for education or employment, they had little hope for
a brighter tomorrow. |

Through
a week of fun, teaching practical skills,
and sharing the gospel, Camp Youth Alive
changes the hearts and lives of Nigeria's
youth today and for eternity. |

Then God gave Claudia a vision for a youth camp that would be
fun, teach practical skills, and bring the hope of the gospel
to these young lives. So in 1996, in obedience to God's calling,
Claudia began Camp Youth Alive.
More Than 200 Campers Make Life-Changing Decisions for Christ
Today Camp Youth Alive is thriving. Thanks to the generous support
of friends like you, more than 2,000 campers have attended in
the past 10 years, with hundreds of children and young adults
committing their lives to Christ.
In the 2005 camping season alone, 29 made salvation decisions, while another 192 made life-changing decisions for Christ! Praise God for the tremendous influence of these camps!
Claudia herself says, "I was amazed by what the campers and staff learned from the 2005 Camp theme: The Lord Is My Shepherd."
But the greatest testimony to the powerful impact of these camps comes from the campers themselves, many of whom could not have attended without having someone like you sponsor them.
Camp Youth Alive Changes Lives Today and for Eternity
Kauna wrote, "My daddy . . . told me he didn't have the money to sponsor me and my sister. And I pray about it . . . the Lord God Almighty answer my pray. At the camp I really changed . . . I have made up my mind that I will serve God with all my heart."
Another camper, John, expressed his appreciation for his sponsorship by saying, "I have nothing to give you but thank you from the bottom of my heart . . . I learned to be a responsible sheep and listening to the voice of my Shepherd. I also learned how to multiply chickens in a short period of time and make candle. At camp, I made a decision of being a follower of Jesus Christ and listening to God's voice wherever He calls me."
When Claudia read these and other testimonies, tears began to flow down her cheeks. Thanks to the generous support of friends like you, the vision God laid on her heart has become a reality.
Through Camp Youth Alive, God is bringing help, hope, and joy
to the lives of Nigeria's young people, not only for today,
but for eternity.
