We thank the Lord for the ministry that SIM
medical missionaries have at four health care
centers in remote regions of Ethiopia--care
made possible because friends like you have
responded generously to the need.
These centers provide care to thousands of Ethiopians
who have no other access to medical attention.
And they are a significant part of SIM's integrated
strategy for church planting and growth in Ethiopia.
A Church Is Born
One story stands out in this regard. A woman
came to the clinic in Tikempt Ishet after having
gone 17 days without eating. She was very weak
and was under the influence of evil powers because
both of her parents were witch doctors.
The SIM staff at the clinic prayed with this woman and
attended to her needs, and God delivered her from her
spiritual oppression. She recovered completely and was
such a testimony to the people in her home area that
many turned from witchcraft to the Lord and became the
foundation of a church in her location!
Thanks to the gifts of our committed supporters, SIM
workers also train many community health care workers
who go out into the villages to help people learn such
things as how to avoid disease, care for their children,
and practice good hygiene.
The clinic at Awanno is a good example. The community
health program manager at this station reported that
the community health agents being trained are so diligent
they study at night by candlelight to learn their material.
The agents at Awanno are Muslims, and our program manager
there reports opportunities to share Christ with them
and pray for them.
"I know they are watching me, and God is working
in their lives," this missionary said. "What
a blessing it is to be a light in the darkness for Christ.
This would not be possible without the prayers and support
of our donors." Project
