Whenever I consider the breadth and diversity of SIM's programs, I am reminded of Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 9:22: "I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some."

Even in this issue of Harvest, you can see how SIM is committed to using all possible means to share the gospel.


In 2006, after nearly 90 years of Christian witness, there were only about 75 believers and one pastor among the nearly 2 million Maninka people of Guinea in West Africa.  That, however, may soon change.

Until 2006, the Gospel of Luke was the only book available in a language the Maninka could easily understand.  Today, Genesis, Ruth, Jonah, and 1 and 2 Thessalonians have all been printed, and other books are nearing completion.



When floods ravaged northern Ghana in 2007, the home of Akos Didewora was badly damaged.  With walls of mud, most of the house gave way to the relentless waters, and then the roof collapsed around her family.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but Akos had to get her family to shelter.  Taking her two older children by the hand and wrapping her baby on her back, she led her family across a swollen stream toward safety.  Halfway across, the swift water threatened to loose the baby from her back.  She released the hands of her children to save the baby, and the powerful currents almost swept her children away before she was . . .
