The IRA Charitable Rollover Provision Has Been Extended

In 2006, President Bush signed the Pension Protection Act to encourage Americans 70½ or older to make contributions to charitable organizations directly from their individual retirement accounts. In October 2008, the incentive for this age group to give, and receive the tax benefits of doing so, was extended through the end of 2009 as part of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act.

Brothers and Coaches -- at Home at Their Alma Maters

A pair of Sigma Nu Brothers, UCLA's head football coach Rick Neuheisel (UCLA) and Al Groh (Virginia), head football coach at UVa, took time out of their schedules to talk with us during a bye week this fall. Their coaching careers have taken both men across the country and back again, landing them where they are today on the same campuses where they first played college football. Both teams closed out the season without the hoped-for bowl game appearance, but Coaches Neuheisel and Groh remain committed to tackling the challenges ahead and leading the young men in their charge who stand to benefit from a man who doesn't let mistakes or defeat stand in the way of progress.

Sigma Nu Institutes Return for 2009

Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. is proud to announce its plans for the 2009 series of regionalized Sigma Nu Institutes. As we close the books on the fall semester and 2008, Sigma Nu is excited to welcome a new class of young men into its leadership ranks. To assist with the transition process and learning curve that accompanies taking on new positions of chapter leadership, the General Fraternity will be hosting a series of regionalized training Institutes for new and current officers in the months of January and February.

Record-Setting Collegiate Member Recruitment - Referrals Still Needed

While most investments are showing a poor return in this troubled economy, there's a bright spot in the investment Sigma Nu has made recently in new member recruitment. The Fraternity has developed effective tools to help our undergraduate chapters successfully recruit the next generation of members using Values-Based Recruitment
strategies. Thanks to one major addition, The Recruitment Bluebook and additional training for chapter officers, we're seeing excellent recruitment numbers this fall.

Brother Charlie Eitel Appointed to the High Council

The High Council is pleased to welcome Brother Charlie Eitel (Oklahoma State) to the Fraternity's High Council (board of directors).

"We are incredibly fortunate to have such an experienced and accomplished leader as Charlie to serve on the High Council. Sigma Nu is grateful that Charlie is willing to take on this responsibility for The Legion of Honor," said Regent Joe Gilman (Morehead State).
