JMU Chapter Gives a Helping Hand to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

In September, the Iota Delta Chapter of Sigma Nu at James Madison University launched its annual fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western Virginia. With help from local sponsors like Little Italy Pizza, James McHone Jewelers and Boitnott Visual Communications, along with the online donations of friends, family members and Iota Delta alumni, the chapter was able to raise $2600 towards the wish of a child in the Central and Western Virginia area.

Under the leadership and hard work of Ryan Middleton, Philanthropy Chair, the chapter set up donation booths across the campus of James Madison and raised awareness and funds through outgoing conversations with students passing by, all while organizing a five-on-five basketball tournament that raised funds through

registration fees. The brotherhood, in an effort to stand out and be seen by all, had T-shirts made to promote the event across the campus.

The chapter reached its goal of $2500, and this marks the second consecutive year that the chapter has been able to donate at least $2000 to this wonderful organization. Their gift supports the hard work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which raises close to $6000 for each child’s wish they grant (including board and family considerations).

Through dedication, hard work and a
little fun, this chapter has once again put the ideals of Love, Truth and Honor at the forefront and worked to support a very worthy cause. In the spring, the brotherhood plans to participate in the Walk to the Star in Roanoke, the annual awareness event of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
