Year-End Giving Can Reduce Your Tax Bill

Believe it or not, you can limit the amount you will owe Uncle Sam next April. Regardless of the type of gift you make, if you itemize when filing your taxes, your year-end gift to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will qualify you for a charitable deduction.

“Cowboy” Takes a Chance on CMT’s Music Video Contest

Steven “Cowboy” Flaughers (Akron, Kent State) has been singing all his life, even before his earliest memories. According to his mother, his singing debut occurred at the age of four at a little hot dog stand in small-town West Virginia.

Almost 30 years later, Cowboy made it to the Top 16 on Country Music Television's Music City Madness Video Contest held this fall through the CMT web site. His music

video premiered at the Cleveland Film Festival and on computer screens across the nation as friends, family and people he’s never met before voted for the music video that was almost a year in the making.

Training New Chapter Leaders

The General Fraternity is proud to announce its plans for regional Sigma Nu Institutes this spring! With the end of the fall term upon us, we are excited to welcome a new crop of young men into our leadership ranks. To assist with the transition process and learning curve that accompanies taking on new positions of chapter leadership, the General Fraternity will be hosting a series of regional training institutes for new and continuing officers during the months of January and February 2008.

Sigma Nu Announces Newly Redesigned Web Site

The Fraternity recently unveiled its newly redesigned web site with Recent News, Highlights and Upcoming Events prominently featured on the front page and an improved navigation bar with one-click access to the information and documents most frequently requested by

our members and web site visitors. While it’s still a work in progress, you can give it a quick look today. Then, plan to spend some time during the holidays digging a little deeper and exploring all the resources, recent news and important highlights that your Fraternity has to offer. JMU Chapter Gives a Helping Hand to the Make-A-Wish Foundation

In September, the Iota Delta Chapter of Sigma Nu at James Madison University launched its annual fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western Virginia. With help from local sponsors like Little Italy Pizza, James McHone Jewelers and Boitnott Visual Communications, along with the online donations of friends, family members and Iota Delta alumni, the chapter was able to raise $2600 towards the wish of a child in the Central and Western Virginia area.

Under the leadership and hard work of Ryan Middleton, Philanthropy Chair, the chapter set up donation booths across the campus of James Madison and raised awareness and funds through outgoing conversations with students passing by, all while organizing a five-on-five basketball tournament that raised funds through registration fees.
