The Fraternal Response to Hurricane Katrina

On August 31st, in an attempt to facilitate information from multiple sources and chapters that were struggling to determine the safety and whereabouts of its members, Lambda Chi Alpha built FraternalRelief.org, not just for members of Lambda Chi, but for the use by all fraternal organizations in these same efforts.

The Sigma Nu pages already report information about chapters in the Gulf region as well as updates on the relocation and safety of our brothers who have been affected by the hurricane. To visit the Sigma Nu pages of FraternalRelief.org you may go directly to the Sigma Nu page. Please visit this site frequently. New content and updates related to our support efforts will be added as they become available.

In addition, the General Fraternity has received numerous inquiries from alumni asking how they can directly assist Sigma Nu Brothers who have been affected by and/or displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Based upon the volume of those calls, on September 2nd the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation established a Disaster Relief Fund within the Educational Foundation. Contributions to this fund will be used to provide financial assistance to Sigma Nu Brothers who are in need as a direct result of a natural disaster.

If you are interested in supporting this cause, tax-deductible contributions should be sent to the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation. Please make certain that you earmark these contributions for the "Disaster Relief Fund." Credit card contributions can be given via our secure website.

All checks should be mailed to:
