resources and education to fight hazing, to bring together experts in the field of hazing prevention and to raise awareness of the many dangers of hazing.
"Considering that Sigma Nu was founded in direct opposition to hazing at Virginia Military Institute and maintains that leadership today, our sponsorship of these important programs is a natural choice. The fight against hazing is ongoing and is most effective when the entire community is involved," said Regent Jay Pitts (South Carolina). "We are very pleased that the NCAA, National Panhellenic Conference and CAMPUSPEAK are also premier sponsors and we hope to see many new sponsors this year," Pitts added.
The Fraternity will encourage all of its collegiate chapters to get involved with National Hazing Prevention Week on their respective campuses and to consider scheduling their own anti-hazing educational programs during this week.
National Hazing Prevention Week takes place annually during the third week of September. In addition to numerous educational programs, there is a national essay contest and several anti-hazing hero awards, both of which offer cash prizes.
National Hazing Prevention Week and the National Hazing Symposium are programs of the non-profit organization HazingPrevention.org. For more information, visit:
