The GOLD Program Has Reached the 1,000 Donor Mark!
In 2002, the Foundation began the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decades) Program designed to educate young alumni about the important funding needs of the Fraternity. Three development officers have been traveling across North America to visit with alumni and share the successes of Sigma Nu’s excellent educational programs and leadership training initiatives.
Through the GOLD Program, young alumni have the opportunity to interact with the Sigma Nu Foundation on a more personal basis than ever before. Traditionally, charitable organizations don’t give a lot of attention to the younger population because face-to-face visits are often reserved for major donors. However, the Sigma Nu Foundation has taken a totally different view of its young donors. After three years of working with the GOLD Program Erik Tomalis, now the Director of Development for Major Gifts, explains, "I’ve learned that it’s more about the relationships we are able to build with alumni rather than the actual dollars we raise today. Just getting out there and meeting alumni is an important investment in the future of Sigma Nu."
Earlier this year, the GOLD Program received its 1,000th contribution, and young brothers continue to respond to the call by providing support through immediate cash gifts and five-year pledges.
Brad Hastings, Executive Vice President said, "Surpassing the mark of 1,000 young donors is a milestone for Sigma Nu. My sincere thanks goes out to each and every alumnus who has supported the Foundation and Fraternity. It does not matter the amount of your gift or if you were the 1st, 273rd or 1,000th donor to the GOLD Program. Each of you helped us reach this goal. Thank You!"
To continue multiplying its efforts to garner young alumni support, the Foundation hired its fourth development officer this summer.
