Brother Durham Appointed to High Council, Regent Names New Collegiate Grand Councilmen
"Sigma Nu is blessed to have such an experienced alumni leader and accomplished businessman as Robert to help lead our Fraternity. We are grateful that Robert was willing to take on this additional responsibility for The Legion of Honor," said Regent Jay Pitts (South Carolina). The appointment of Durham was made to fill the vacancy brought about by the resignation of Vice Regent Tony Dixon (Louisiana Tech). |

Robert is an executive with Lehman Brothers, based in Atlanta, where he lives with his family. Prior to his appointment to the High Council, Durham was appointed to serve on the Board of Managers of Fifth Point Properties, LLC, which manages the Fraternity's work in support of collegiate chapter housing. Robert has served the Mu Chapter at the University of Georgia since his days as a two-term chapter Commander followed by more than 20 years as president of the Mu house corporation. He is particularly looking forward to providing leadership on the Fraternity's alumni involvement program and efforts to increase the recruitment of new members by collegiate chapters. "I'm a firm believer that Sigma Nu can provide great value to Brothers throughout their lives if they stay involved with Sigma Nu. I'm excited by the commitment our Fraternity and Foundation have made to implement new programs to involve more alumni," said Durham.
Amidst his volunteer work for Sigma Nu and a business schedule that requires frequent travel, Robert finds time to enjoy fly-fishing and compete in triathlons. He is also an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
In addition to Brother Durham’s appointment, four new Collegiate Grand Councilmen have been named to serve for the 2007-2008 academic year. Those members are as follows: Blaine Hust (Gamma Tau, Minnesota), Christian Mibelli (Psi, North Carolina), Justin Runager (Delta, South Carolina) and Jesse Shawver (Theta Nu, Ball State).
