The Hopkins Society and Fifth Point Properties Evidence Great Progress

Fifth Point Properties took over management of Beta’s chapter home at the end of the fall semester in 2006. Since that time, Hopkins Society President Wes Martin and Treasurer Kurt Pilecki have been reviewing with Fifth Point the needs of the chapter home for the purpose of developing short- and long-term plans for the property. In fact, the last significant remodel of the
property was in 1986. Since then, only basic maintenance needs have been met. In addition to the Hopkins Society’s desire to have a premiere facility on campus, the University of Virginia is undertaking a major initiative that will put the Beta Chapter home right in the middle of the University’s new "front door".

According to Martin, "the Beta Chapter and its Alumni are extremely pleased with our partnership with Fifth Point Properties. From the moment we began discussions about entering into this partnership last summer, it quickly became apparent that Steve Ratterman, Nick Murphy and everyone else at Fifth Point shared our vision for the Beta Chapter house--that it not simply be maintained but restored and improved to the level of prominence that it richly deserves." Martin added, "The results of Fifth Point’s work to date have included a phenomenal rehabilitation of the first floor of the house. We look forward to the continued success and improvement this partnership with Fifth Point will bring to the Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu."

Steve Ratterman, Chief Operating Officer of Fifth Point Properties, is also very pleased with the progress to date. "Wes and Kurt are two very dedicated and involved alumni who share a strong vision of how they would like to see the Beta Chapter home restored. They have been instrumental in the development of our renovations for this summer, as well as the long-term plan. They work well with the men in the Chapter and that makes everything else run smoothly." Ratterman anticipates working closely over the next several years with the University of Virginia to make sure that our chapter home’s prominence on campus continues as the University’s improvements are made.
