FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 24, 2008
Lexington, Va. -- Sigma Nu Fraternity is proud to announce that Brother Howard
C. Pickett (North Carolina State University) was elected last week to serve
as the Vice Chairman of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The
NIC is the leading trade association for men's Greek-letter organizations in
North America with 72 member organizations.
Brother Pickett brings years of involvement
and leadership in the interfraternal movement
to his Vice Chairmanship. He has

Howard has been involved for more than three decades as a volunteer for
Sigma Nu Fraternity, having faithfully served his own chapter, Beta Tau, at North
Carolina State University as an advisor and house corporation officer. Howard
has served in numerous volunteer positions for the General Fraternity including
Division Commander and Vice Regent. In 2000, Brother Pickett became the
Regent (international president) of Sigma Nu Fraternity and, during his tenure,
led the Fraternity's transition to a policy governance model and to the adoption
of the Fraternity's current strategic planning process. His
leadership was instrumental in the founding of the Fraternity's housing
concern, Fifth Point Properties, LLC, and he remains a member of Fifth Point's
board of managers today.
"We
are so proud and appreciative of Howard's
dedication to Sigma Nu and the interfraternal
movement," said current Regent John
R. "Jay" Pitts (South Carolina). "Interfraternal
leadership on local campuses and in the NIC
has long been a hallmark of our Fraternity
and we are pleased to lend yet another great
leader for the good of all Greeks."
Brother
Pickett will serve a two-year term as Vice
Chairman. Peter Smithhisler, President and
CEO of the NIC commented, “Howard is
a well-connected and gifted leader. His
passion for advancing the fraternity industry
is evident in his work and efforts on behalf
of all fraternities."
