The Hopkins Society and Fifth Point Properties Announce Strategic Alliance
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
 |
The Hopkins Society of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc., owners of the Beta chapter home, and Fifth Point Properties, a subsidiary of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc., are pleased to announce a strategic alliance for the management and preservation of the Beta chapter home.
|
Beta chapter is Sigma Nu’s oldest active chapter, since fraternities are no longer allowed at Virginia Military Institute. This distinction is of historical significance to both Sigma Nu and the University of Virginia. The chapter home, constructed in 1928, sits at one of the most prominent gateways to the university and is one of the most visible and distinctive buildings on the campus. These facts make the Beta chapter home a significant property within Sigma Nu Fraternity. In an effort to best preserve and protect its chapter home, The Hopkins Society has hired Fifth Point Properties to manage and guide efforts to update and improve the property. |
Fifth Point Properties, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc. It was founded in 2003 with the mission of making Sigma Nu’s housing stock a competitive advantage in recruiting the best and brightest of today’s college men. Fifth Point Properties is meeting its mission though property ownership and management and by providing select services to house corporations and chapters. Some of those services include housing agreements and payment processing, chapter dues processing, and consulting services such as short and long range capital improvement planning, operations improvement, new construction and renovation.
"We are excited to announce this agreement with Fifth Point Properties," stated Hopkins Society President Wes Martin, B 1357. "This agreement will help strengthen our relationship with the Fraternity, and improve the conditions and maintenance of the home our chapter members have lived in for so long. It will help us keep a historical property at the gateway of the university the showplace it should be." Steve Ratterman, President and COO of Fifth Point Properties added, "We are honored to be trusted with the management of such a historic property - for the Beta chapter, its alumni, Sigma Nu and the University of Virginia. We will be working very closely with the Hopkins Society to preserve and protect this great home."
