"We
Do This for Others"
(August 28, 1952)
With the slogan "We do this for others,"
delegates at the thirty-fifth Grand Chapter
in Mackinac Island, Mich., are in unanimous
agreement to both improve the public image
of our organization and help others along
the way.
Shyly suggested on the legislative floor of
Grand Chapter by Brother Herbert A. Rommele
(Pi Chapter, Lehigh University), he is uncertain
whether the idea will gain favorable reception.
To his surprise, delegates and members of
the High Council quickly get on board with
the notion and propose to implement Sigma
Nu's first annual week of service that next
spring.
Because of widely divergent schedules on the
115 campuses where Sigma Nu Fraternity has
operating Chapters, it is decided to allow
Chapters the chance to choose the most convenient
week to complete their service projects, as

long as all of the projects are completed sometime
during the monthof
February 1953. At the conclusion of their project,
each Chapter will be asked to submit a report of
their community activity to the General Fraternity
offices for compilation.
Pictured are photos and news clippings from just
a handful of those projects. A total of 68 chapters
filed reports on their Service Week activities
and, in most cases, every member of the local
chapter participated in the project.
