The General Fraternity is proud to announce its plans for regional Sigma Nu Institutes this spring! With the beginning of a new term, we are excited to welcome our newly elected collegiate officers into Sigma Nu’s leadership ranks. To assist with the transition process and learning curve that accompanies taking on new positions of chapter leadership, the General Fraternity will be hosting a series of regional training institutes for new and continuing officers during the months of January and February 2008.
In past years, regional training has been focused solely on the Fraternity’s Values-Based Recruitment and LEAD Programs. This spring, the General Fraternity is building on the success of those individual programs and re-introducing the Sigma Nu Institute.
Originally offered as a multi-day training program in Lexington, Va., for Commanders only, this spring’s regional Sigma Nu Institutes are a more comprehensive version focused on the training of several chapter officers. In fact, many of our chapter officers have indicated that much of the difficulty in managing their respective position(s) arises from a lack of skill or knowledge regarding policy, organizational structure, management of specific programs (e.g. LEAD and VBR), goal setting/strategic planning, accountability or leadership. Therefore, the purpose of the Sigma Nu Institutes is to properly train specific chapter officers for effectiveness and success in leading their own chapters.
The 2008 series of regional Sigma Nu Institutes will be directed toward training the following officers:
| • |
Commanders |
| • |
Lt. Commanders |
| • |
Marshals |
| • |
Recruitment Chairmen |
It is expected that each chapter will send these four (4) officers to an Institute of their choosing. Alumni participation is also welcome and we ask that you encourage the appropriate chapter officers to register soon. All Sigma Nu Institute locations will include curriculum for each of the four officers listed above so it’s important they attend.
There are no costs to attend the Sigma Nu Institute! They are FREE!
To reserve a spot at an Institute, each officer who plans to attend must complete the online registration form. Once registered, additional information will be e-mailed to registrants for the specific session they will be attending. We ask that all registrations be submitted at least two weeks prior to the Institute date to allow for accurate materials counts.
