Remembering Our Loved Ones

Dale Archer (Central Oklahoma) recently sent the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation a donation in memory and celebration of the life of his father. He sent with it an idea for those who would like to honor the memory of their deceased loved ones. In Dale Archer's words, here is his suggestion:

As you may know my father, Bob Archer, recently passed away. In thinking about how to perpetuate his memory, my family is developing some ways to honor my father's memory on my parent's anniversary, Father's
Dale Archer and his father,
Bob Archer

Day, Christmas and his birthday (which coincides with New Year's Day and the birthday of our brotherhood). With the money we would have spent on him for gifts, we are going to establish memorial accounts with various organizations that will perpetuate his life of ministerial service.

In memory of my father, I want to encourage our brothers to contribute the money they would have spent on gifts to their now deceased family/friends toward Sigma Nu's educational programs supported by the Foundation.

My father preached the Word of Truth for over 30 years. He loved people and ministered to them regardless of color, gender or socio-economic status. He certainly believed in the Life of Love. He is my example of what it is to have Love, Honor and Truth in your every day life.

This will be the first Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years without him. But, I don't intend to mourn the loss. I have renewed purpose to honor his life. Simply this: regardless of how hard my father was to buy for in the past, my gifts for him will be the easiest of the season.

In order to help this idea grow some legs, I'll contribute the first $100 to the Foundation as a Gift of Remembrance for others to follow in my footsteps.

In Love, Honor & Truth,

Dale Archer, MT1
