DID YOU KNOW...

Did you know... Did you know that Sigma Nu’s LEAD (Leadership, Ethics Achievement and Development) Program remains the only ethical leadership development program within the Greek community? Did you know that Sigma Nu was the only Greek organization invited to present our leadership development program at the Leadership Educators Institute? Did you know that the LEAD Program was recently acknowledged in the book entitled, THE ADMINISTRATION OF FRATERNAL SOCIAL ORGANIZATIONS ON AMERICAN CAMPUSES: A Pattern for the New Millennium? In the chapter devoted to Transforming Fraternal Leadership, the authors note what makes this program so distinctive:

"The LEAD Program of Sigma Nu is unique in its explicit intent to prepare all members, regardless of positional status, for leadership. The curriculum is partially a character development model. . . .In addition, the LEAD model includes the ‘Social Change Model’ that espouses a perspective that is inclusive of all. The message is that all brothers are capable of leadership and that the origin of leadership is conviction and the willingness to act on those things that are most important to them. The idea of conviction as a stimulus to leadership is derived from the courage exhibited by Sigma Nu’s founder, James Frank Hopkins, when he opposed hazing at the Virginia Military Institute in the post-Civil War years (1868/69)."

A recent survey of our collegiate brothers revealed the following statistics regarding the effectiveness of the LEAD Program:
83% found LEAD to be interactive
91 % found that LEAD develops leadership skills
74% of the chapters use LEAD as a recruitment tool

88% of the chapters recruited alumni to participate in LEAD as facilitators

86% found that LEAD has enhanced their undergraduate experience

95% said that they would recommend LEAD to others
90% said that LEAD has caused them to think critically about issues regarding ethic and moral reasoning

Now you know that the LEAD Program is helping to make a difference in the lives of our collegiate brothers.
