The College of Chapters, Sigma Nu's Biennial Leadership Conference
This week, over 325 undergraduate leaders will make a pilgrimage to the birthplace of the Legion of Honor, Lexington, VA, to take part in the 2005 College of Chapters. This year's College of Chapters will utilize the campuses of Washington & Lee University, Virginia Military Institute, and our Headquarters Shrine. |
|
As Sigma Nu Fraternity's biennial leadership development conference, the College of Chapters is an intensive, interactive program that focuses on leadership, teambuilding, and the core principles of Sigma Nu. At College of Chapters, our collegiate brothers will learn more about themselves, connect with brothers from chapters and colonies across North America, find solutions to their challenges, discover ideas that can help take their chapters to the next level, and learn skills that can help them succeed both now and after graduation.
Small and large-group facilitators for the conference will include some of the best the Greek world has to offer. In addition to nationally recognized speakers, over 35 top-notch Sigma Nu alumni and outstanding university faculty from around the country will be on hand to give our brothers an experience they won't soon forget!

The attendees will renew their Sigma Nu vows on VMI's parade ground. This ceremony will take place on the very location where our three (3) founders Hopkins, Quarles and Riley met on a moonlit night in October 1868. When they met, Brothers Hopkins, Quarles and Riley clasped their hands on the Bible and gave a solemn pledge to form a new brotherhood society they called the Legion of Honor. The vows taken this fateful evening bound them

together to oppose hazing and encourage the application of the Principle of Honor in all their relationships.
James Owens, Executive Vice President, said, "I always look forward to the College of Chapters. This is where, as staff and volunteers, we have the opportunity to see the Honor Principle put into action. It's refreshing to see so many young men enthusiastically embrace the ideals of our great Fraternity."
In the next several issues of the
