The Evolution of the Foundation
When the Foundation Board of Directors held their Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA during the first weekend in June 2005, there were accomplishments to celebrate and announcements to be made. A San Diego area alumni reception was the kick-off event of the weekend and over 50 alumni and friends were in attendance. One alumnus, Calvin Pouncy (Montana) made the four-hour drive from Las Vegas to take part in the alumni reception. |

When asked why he had traveled so far to attend Brother Pouncy said, "I have not been very active with Sigma Nu since I graduated. I saw this as an opportunity to get reacquainted with my fraternity."
During the annual banquet held on Friday night, Brother Mike Long, Foundation President, first thanked the Directors and Executive Committee for their dedication and hard work over the last two years. He then continued with a salute to a very special group of people by saying, "My special thanks go to our Sigma Nu Sweethearts and our loved ones who continue to allow us to ‘play’ Fraternity."

Brother Long also highlighted the four most significant achievements of the Educational Foundation over the last few years. The first was the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan which serves as a "road map" to guide our Foundation. Second, the mortgage on the headquarters property with a balance of $735,000 in 2001 was paid in full on May 27, 2005. Brother Long celebrated this milestone by burning a copy of the retired note. |

The
College of Chapters, Sigma Nu's Biennial
Leadership Conference
This week, over 325 undergraduate leaders
will make a pilgrimage to the birthplace
of the Legion of Honor, Lexington, VA,
to take part in the 2005 College of Chapters.
This year's College of Chapters will utilize
the campuses of Washington & Lee University,
Virginia Military Institute, and our Headquarters
Shrine. |
|
As
Sigma Nu Fraternity's biennial leadership development
conference, the College of Chapters is an intensive,
interactive program that focuses on leadership,
teambuilding, and the core principles of Sigma
Nu. At College of Chapters, our collegiate brothers
will learn more about themselves, connect with
brothers from chapters and colonies across North
America, find solutions to their challenges, discover
ideas that can help take their chapters to the
next level, and learn skills that can help them
succeed both now and after graduation.
Small and large-group facilitators for the conference
will include some of the best the Greek world
has to offer. In addition to nationally recognized
speakers, over 35 top-notch Sigma Nu alumni and
outstanding university faculty from around the
country will be on hand to give our brothers an
experience they won't soon forget!

History in the Making -
First-Ever Interfraternal Cruise Along the Mediterranean
History will be in the making this fall when Sigma
Nu joins 26 other Greek organizations on the first-ever
"all-Greek" Mediterranean voyage, which
will combine rich history with scenic beauty along
the coastlines of Croatia, Montenegro, Albania,
Sicily, Italy and Monte Carlo. Travelers will
have the unique opportunity to visit places largely
bypassed by the typical tourist, and the cruise
will be made even more special because it will
be in the company of Sigma Nu brothers and their
families, as well as our interfraternal friends.
