Latest Inductees into the Sigma Nu Hall of Fame

In order to be inducted into the Sigma Nu Hall of Fame a Brother must have brought credit to his nation, to his profession, himself and to Sigma Nu. Joseph F. Buck, the Honorable James McCrery and Boyd Tinsley are the most recent inductees into the Sigma Nu Hall of Fame.

The first inductee, Joseph F. Buck (Indiana) began his broadcasting career in 1989, while he was an undergraduate at Indiana University. That year he did baseball play-by-play
Joe Buck (Indiana)
for the Louisville Redbirds of the American Association, a minor league affiliate of the Cardinals, and was a reporter for ESPN's coverage of the Triple-A All-Star Game. He began his FOX play-by-play career in the NFL on FOX broadcast booth, where he worked from 1994-1997.

In just eight years, this inductee has earned the distinction as one of sports' premier play-by-play broadcasters, as evidenced by his four consecutive Emmy Award wins from 1999 through 2003. For the 8th consecutive baseball season, he has teamed with analyst Tim McCarver to comprise Major League Baseball on FOX's lead announcing team. In April of 2003, each once again brought home awards for Outstanding Play-by-Play and Event Analyst, respectively. Joe capped off a stellar rookie campaign for Major League Baseball on FOX in 1996 when, at age 27, he became the youngest play-by-play announcer to call a World Series since the legendary Vin Scully sat behind the mike during the 1953 Fall Classic.

The second inductee, the Honorable James McCrery (Louisiana Tech), is serving his ninth full term in the U.S. House representing Louisiana's Fourth Congressional District, encompassing Northwest and West Central Louisiana. Jim is an Alpha Affiliate who served on the Fraternity's staff and also as an Assistant Division Commander. In 2004, Jim was awarded the North-American Interfraternity Conference's Award of Distinction for his leadership with the lobbying efforts affecting Greek Housing. Congressional Quarterly, a non-partisan magazine, called McCrery an "economic guardian" for his work as Select Revenue Measures Subcommittee Chairman on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.
This magazine named McCrery as one of twenty-eight "emerging players" who will shape Congress's Agenda in the post-September 11th world and "as the heir apparent to the gavel of the House Ways and Means Committee."

The third inductee Brother Boyd Tinsley (Virginia) began playing the violin in the sixth grade. In 1982 Boyd enrolled at the University of Virginia and joined the Beta Chapter. While there, he got the idea to start a rock band with a violinist as the lead musician. In 1991, Boyd joined the Dave Matthews Band. Over the last 14 years, the Dave Matthews Band has become a major player in the music industry. In 2004, the band performed before 900,000 fans and sold almost 500,000 CDs and 280,000 DVDs.

Boyd and the band started the Bama Works Foundation which benefits non-profits from the

The Boyd Tinsley Foundation provides young people with opportunities, skills and educational programs. In a recent article, Boyd said, "I was heavily influenced by Sigma Nu to give back, and that's remained important to me."
