DONOR EDUCATION
Foundation Enhances Strategic Plan for 2007-2008

During the period since the first strategic plan was created, the Foundation has embarked on several initiatives that have more than doubled its assets. In addition, the Foundation has increased the amount granted to the Fraternity for educational initiatives by over 300% during that same period.

While we have a long way to go, the Foundation’s Board recognizes the need for continued vision, leadership and guidance through a future-oriented strategic plan. To this end, the newly elected Executive Committee, along with Foundation
staff and invited Brothers, met in Chicago to review the current strategic plan and to offer amendments to ensure the plan remains focused on positioning the Foundation for continued growth and future success.

Below represents the finished product.

VISION STATEMENT

Supporting the development of ethical leaders and cultivating a lifelong commitment to the educational and charitable missions of Sigma Nu.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Sigma Nu Educational Foundation secures and provides enduring resources in support of the Fraternity’s educational mission!

We will:

Support educational and leadership programming initiatives,
Provide scholarships to support academic achievement,
Enable members and friends to support these programs through tax-deductible contributions; and,
Cultivate a lifelong commitment to the educational and charitable missions of Sigma Nu.

STRATEGIC GOALS

FUNDRAISING

To raise sufficient funds to support the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation and the educational programs of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Staff:

Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will recruit, train and maintain a professional staff to support the Strategic Plan.

Board:

Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will ensure an effective organizational structure to support the Strategic Plan.

IMAGE BUILDING AND AWARENESS

Develop effective communication strategies to create greater awareness and a positive image for the Educational Foundation among members.

ALUMNI DEVELOPMENT

Develop an Alumni Relations Program to promote and support the goals of the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ASSET PROTECTION

The Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will develop a plan to meet current and future financial obligations.

COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS with OTHER ENTITIES

The Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will develop a collaborative partnership with other entities for the betterment of Sigma Nu.

DONOR STEWARDSHIP AND RECOGNITION

The Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will create an appropriate program for donor stewardship and recognition.

As you can see, the Foundation’s Board of Directors has created an effective roadmap for directing the Foundation toward its vision and mission.  Our primary purpose is to support the educational and scholastic initiatives of the Fraternity and to create lifelong commitments to the charitable missions of Sigma Nu.  We continue to strive toward this envisioned future with your support.
