How
Can I Deal?
Summer is coming to a close. With fall and winter on
the horizon, the most stressful time of year looms ahead.
From preparing the kids for back to school to readying
yourself for the holidays, the end of summer signals
an end to relaxation and the return to the hustle and
bustle of a busy schedule. Now, Phi Mu Foundation shares
tips on how to cope with the stresses in your life.

Exercise-We
all know we're supposed to exercise at least
three times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes
each session in order to maintain good health.
But, the benefits of exercise are far-reaching.
Exercising, especially with a friend, is a good
way to get your mind off your struggles. And,
exercise actually makes you feel better, giving
you the energy you need to tackle your to-do
list. |
 |
Positive
thinking-Visualization is not some hokey
means of getting things done. It's actually
a good method for accomplishing the tasks at
hand. If it helps, write down your goals and
review them daily. You're likely to soon find
yourself achieving those goals. |
 |
Talking
about it-If stress, a tragedy or a loss
has got you down, talk about it. Be it with
a co-worker, a friend, your significant other
or a Phi Mu Sister, just verbalizing your feelings
is often a good outlet for frustration. The
other person needn't solve your problems for
you. Sometimes all that's necessary is a listening
ear and some reassurance. |
 |
Do
something-Does your to-do list seem overwhelming
to you? Perhaps you don't know where to start.
The best advice is to just do something, even
if it's the easiest chore on your to-do list.
Once you start moving, you'll find that you
will gain momentum and will be able to wipe
out many of the projects that have been plaguing
you. |
 |
Meet
with your doctor-Perhaps you've tried all
of the above and still find yourself feeling
frustrated, depressed or overwhelmed. Consult
your physician, who may have other recommendations
that will better suit your individual needs. |
