Mr. Phi Psi Honored
On October 20, 2007, Mr. Phi Psi himself Dud Daniel, Arizona '47, was honored for his lifelong commitment and selfless service to the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. On the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Arizona Alpha Chapter and the 30th anniversary of its re-chartering, Phi Psis of all ages and from all over the country gathered at the University of Arizona to pay tribute to the most recognized and celebrated Phi Psi.
The festivities kicked off with a reception at the beautiful desert home of past Arizona Alpha Chapter Advisor, Dr. Bryan Foulk, Arizona '79. With over 100 Phi Psis and guests in attendance |

and complimented by great food and great conversation a perfect evening was had by all. Many distinguished Phi Psis were on hand including members of the Letterman family, the Ancient Order of the S.C., past and current District VI archons and the Fraternity's Executive Director, Shawn Collinsworth.
A formal dedication of the Ralph D. Daniel University of Arizona Parkway Bench took place on Saturday. The inscription read "Ralph 'Dud' Daniel 'Mr. Phi Kappa Psi' Arizona Alpha '47". Dud was unaware of the special presentation planned by his chapter brothers and was asked to help remove the cloth covering the bench and say a few words. Dud's emotional words were well received by the crowd and brought tears to the eyes of those present.
Brother Gordon R. Letterman, West Virginia '72, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Letterman family for Dud in recognition of his lifelong devotion to Phi Psi and for being the true example of a "Phi Psi Gentleman". The dedication ceremony was followed by a special meeting which included a traditional "gavel pass" but instead utilized badge Number One of the Fraternity, Co-Founder William Henry Letterman.
A special thank you goes to all who donated and work tirelessly to plan this wonderful weekend honoring a man who has committed his entire life to Phi Kappa Psi and whom ever Phi Psi is honored to call a brother. The Ralph D. Daniel Parkway Bench is located on the front steps to the historic "Old Main" campus building of 1885, adjacent to the University of Arizona Berger Fountain.
