Pennsylvania Theta Donors Break Ground For 'Old Grey Barn' Renovation

More than three decades ago, Penn Theta alumni rallied and celebrated the renovation and moving of the 1909 'Old Grey Barn' chapter house across campus to the present day March Field location at Lafayette College - an engineering feat at the time. Now Penn Theta is at it again!

Thanks to the generosity of Penn Theta alumni, over $850,000 has been raised in less than a year. The Penn Theta Housing Corporation has directed alumni to make tax-deductible contributions to the Penn Theta Campaign Fund held within the Endowment Fund and subsequently, a recent educational facilities grant was made to Penn Theta allowing construction to begin. Homecoming marked the official groundbreaking on October 21, 2006.

In addition to updating and rehabilitating all the interior spaces, the renovation will include the installation of a new heating system, modernization of the wiring, a fire sprinkler system, and adding two front porches to replace those lost when the house was moved 35 years ago.
