A Look Back at Founders Day 2007 and Ahead to 2008
The Fraternity had 31 groups including chapters and alumni associations that contacted the National Headquarters with information regarding a Founders Day celebration. Groups submitting information including a schedule of events prior to November 1, 2006 were able to obtain a national speaker and have information included in the winter edition of the Shield. Over 20 Founders Day events featured a National speaker or representative. It was noted throughout feedback from the groups that having an individual or groups of individuals who were able to speak about Phi Psis national presence within the Interfraternal world was a welcome change in comparison to other years.
This year, over 2,000 individuals participated in a Founders Day event. The Fraternity’s largest gathering was hosted by the Los Angeles and Greater Orange County Alumni Associations. As the Fraternity looks ahead to 2008, there will continue to be a strong presence of National volunteers and Headquarters staff at events throughout the country. The Headquarters will also be providing better planning materials for groups, which will include information on the 2008 Founders Day theme, sample scripts, event planning information and a database of contact information for use when marketing the events. The Headquarters looks forward to bolstering 2008 Founders Day celebrations as we remember what William Henry Letterman and Charles Page Thomas Moore started in 1852 - a new kind of Fraternity, an organization based on the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship and service.
