Phi Psi Welcomes its 149th Chapter

On April 21, 2007, Phi Kappa Psi welcomed 24 new members and Illinois Iota as the 149th chapter of the fraternity. The group was established at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois in the fall of 2005. Over 130 parents, Phi Psi ladies, colony members, and Phi Psi Alumni gathered for the banquet following the induction ceremony for the new chapter. Among guests were past presidents, Jim Blazer (2002-2004), Gregg Knapp (1996-1998) and Steven Nieslawski (2000-2002) who also served as the symposiarch for the banquet. Kent Owen delivered the banquet address. Parents also had the wonderful honor of meeting Ralph "Dud" Daniel, Mr. Phi Psi.

Northern Illinois University is a public university located in DeKalb, Illinois. It was established 1895 and with a student population over 25,000, it is the second largest state institution in Illinois. DeKalb, Illinois is located about 70 miles west of the city of Chicago.

"This chapter is very unique," said Ron Ransom, Director of Expansion for Phi Kappa Psi. "The members have overcome several challenges and in the process have truly managed to separate themselves from other fraternities on their campus. I look forward to seeing the chapter grow for years to come."
