Ohio Mu Raises the Most to Support a Worthy Cause
The University of Dayton's fifth annual Relay for Life was Saturday April 21 through Sunday April 22. The Ohio Mu Chapter raised over $8,500 toppling last year's figures and far exceeding their 2007 goal by over $2,500. "Our success means a lot to me because we have raised a significant amount of money for a great cause." said Kevin Timms, Dayton '06 and Philanthropy Chairman for Ohio Mu.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs for the American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of groups like Phi Phi gather and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times. The chapter began the weekend and fundraising efforts by spreading the word early. |

Selling pancakes was the clincher for them and by 4:00 AM they were all gone! With their hour walking shifts and a Nintendo Wii to keep them company, the 55 member chapter survived the rainy night and temperatures in the low 30s to come out on top for the second year in a row.
"I think the chapter is dedicated to the cause; we all know someone with cancer and a few brothers have been greatly affected by cancer in their family," says Kevin. Anthony Antenucci, Dayton '06, raised over $2,000 himself. The entire chapter is proud of his extraordinary efforts.
The Relay for Life event has become the leading philanthropic event for Ohio Mu. All the brothers participate and rally around the other campus organizations. Kevin summed it up best, "It's apparent to each of us and even the rest of campus how big a force Phi Psi can be."
