Catching Up After 40 Years

On May 19th, 19 Phi Psis initiated into the Pennsylvania Iota Chapter in the 60's met for a reunion dinner at the Lotos Club in New York City. They came from as far away as Wichita, Kansas, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Zurich, Switerland to gather with their chapter brothers and catch up on the last 40 years. John Swierk, Penn ‘05, current President of Pennsylvania Iota brought a chapter record book from the era in which many of the names of attendees appeared. "Looking back at the records was stunning - a 25 cent fine for the use of profanity during a meeting - it sure was a delightful time warp," said Marc Suffern, II, Penn ‘63.

As planned, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and

conversation started at 6:30 pm. Everyone had the opportunity to give a brief summary of their lives since Penn and then the group moved on to dinner and more conversation and reminiscing. Brother Schamu, Penn ‘63, had kindly enlarged a number of yearbook photos, so everyone could look over a brother's shoulder and gaze in wonderment at the acorn from which grew the oak!

In attendance from Pennsylvania Iota were Doug Altchek ‘65, Rob Bossart ‘65, Skip Brasted ‘62, Ken Chase ‘63, Tom Christian ‘64, Tony Escudero ‘63, Fred Guyott ‘66, Peter Horowitz ‘65, Dave Jagger ‘62, Bob Johnson ‘65, David Kotok ‘63, Bob Lay ‘66, Bob Nicol ‘63, Jim Patton, Paul Petersen ‘59, Paul Ross ‘65, Walter Schamu ‘63 Marc Suffern ‘63 and Richard Templeton ‘67.

"We all agreed that this reunion should be repeated with the weight of opinion being for a year hence, so we shall meet again in May of 2008!" announced Brother Suffern.
