Engaging your philanthropic side is painless when giving to the Endowment Fund through the United Way. Donating to the United Way attracts employers to match employee gifts, fulfilling their philanthropic obligation as an organization. It’s a great way for Phi Psis to increase their lifetime giving level and essentially double their donations. Rich Clasen, Washington ’83, has been giving this way for 6 years now. "Fellow chapter brother Matt Anglin set it up through Boeing, so I inquired at my local United Way and they said 'Sure!' They take a fee for handling the transaction, but it's a convenient way to make sure the Endowment Fund gets the money."

Getting on board is easy. Simply contact your local United Way to see about starting a donation to the Endowment Fund. Second, check with your HR department and see what their policy is on matching gifts. Remember, the Endowment Fund of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public educational foundation. As such, the Endowment Fund is the only charitable arm of Phi Kappa Psi entitling donors to a full tax deduction within the limits set by the Internal Revenue Code.

So why does Rich Clasen give to the Endowment Fund? "I feel very strongly in providing opportunities for the future leaders of tomorrow. I also believe that we should give back for the experience we all had and the lifelong friendships we have made."
