Phi Psi Growth

As a new academic year dawns, Phi Kappa Psi continues its aggressive expansion to new campuses and those that have hosted chapters in the past. The Fraternity's leadership has identified that Phi Psi should be 125 chapters strong by the year 2010.

Among Phi Psi's newest chapters are Ohio Mu (University of Dayton) and the re-chartered Alabama Beta (Auburn University). Both chapters received their charters in April.
"Creating a chapter at the University of Dayton has been a life-altering experience," explained brother Craig Rossi, Dayton '05. "It was an honor to be asked to be a founding father."

The process of starting a chapter requires the time and dedication of motivated men. Rossi remembers the process of becoming a chapter. "The first couple of months flew by in the blink of an eye. Before we knew it, summer hit and we had no idea what we had gotten ourselves into. When school started this year, we began slowly, but were working hard to create a government and form a brotherhood. These two assets were invaluable; it's not work when you are doing it with your best friends."

During the Ohio Mu installation ceremony, Rossi closed his speech to parents and alumni by showing appreciation, and adding some advice. "There are very few times in life that you get a chance to make a difference. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to do so."

Work continues on the expansion efforts began at The University of California at Davis and The University of California at Riverside during the 2004-05 school year. This fall's plans include colonization at The University of Maryland and Northern Illinois University.

Alumni involvement is a crucial part of the expansion process. Active alumni participation helps the colony establish a strong foundation on campus and as a member of the National Fraternity. Even an hour or two a month can make a lasting difference for a new generation of brothers.
