Phi Psi Welcomes The Huskies

On April 21, 2007, The Executive Council will charter Illinois Iota at Northern Illinois University (NIU) as the 149th chapter of Phi Psi and the 9th chapter in the state of Illinois. The newly established chapter carries several accomplishments thus far, including recognition as one of the top Greek organizations on campus, recently hosting sexual assault awareness programming and volunteering with local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club.

Currently across the United States, thousands
of students are determining that Phi Psi is the organization that will give them a great college experience and provide them with the opportunities to reach their lifelong goals. Phi Kappa Psi exists today with over 100 chapters and colonies because of the commitment of its members. The future of Phi Psi rests within the leaders it selects today and the Fraternity is proud to welcome the NIU Huskies!

NIU, a state institution established in 1895, is located in DeKalb, Illinois, just outside the suburbs of Chicago. The University is a comprehensive research institution with a student enrollment of over 22,000. Phi Psi’s expansion efforts were welcomed and encouraged by University officials who emphasize that membership in a Greek organization provides many co-curricular activities which enhance a student’s collegiate experience. According to NIU’s Programming and Activities Office, although Greeks only make up 7% of the student population, Greeks received 50% of the annual awards for campus leadership last year.
