"Hello, may I please speak with
Mr. Sims? Hello sir, my name is Brian Snyder and
I am calling from the Phi Psi Headquarters. How
are you doing this evening? I am calling for a couple
of reasons tonight. . . " And so begins a phone
conversation that may only last a few minutes, but
will make a lifetime of difference for Phi Kappa
Psi.
The Phi Psi Call Center is a state-of-the-art calling
facility located at Laurel Hall that employs the
help of Greek undergraduates from nearby Butler
University, including many members of the Indiana
Zeta Chapter. It is the pinnacle of technology in
the Greek foundation community and is one of only
two fraternity-owned centers. It will be the home
for our new TeleFund program. |
|
The call center was established after the Endowment Fund,
Phi Psi's educational foundation, analyzed the database
of Phi Psi alumni and found startling results. Of our
total living alumni, we have lost contact with more than
32% of our fellow brothers. The call center allows us
to contact previous phone numbers in the hopes of getting
in touch with a friend or relative who will shed some
light on the whereabouts of a brother and give him the
opportunity to once again become involved with the Fraternity.
For those who may have not had contact with their Phi
Psi brothers in a number of years, the call center opens
the door and reconnects. A phone call can be a welcome
change to an impersonal direct mail letter you may be
used to seeing. Alumni can catch up on how the Fraternity
and their chapter have changed over the years. New programs,
new policies and a new Headquarters are just a few of
the headlines brought to the attention of alumni. Also,
each caller has the ability to offer some of the positive
news from the alumnus' home chapter.

|
One of the objectives of the Phi Psi
TeleFund is to raise money. The Foundation is aware
that many of our alumni do not respond to direct
mail and are looking for quicker and easier ways
to automate their charitable giving. The benefit
of the TeleFund is that alumni can make secure donations
on their credit card, over the phone, to the caller.
They |
can even arrange to have multiple payments over a twelve-month
period. We want to make it as hassle-free as possible.
We don't ask for much and, as our callers will tell you,
participation is what is most important.
Not only has the program broken new ground in the way
Phi Psi alumni relations work, but active Phi Psis are
gaining an experience they could not receive in any other
job. These young men have the opportunity to see how the
experience of Phi Kappa Psi has impacted alumni lives
years down the road. Alumni who were only accessible through
conferences and Grand Arch Councils are now literally
just a phone call away.
Phi Psi's young and old find they have more in common
than they would have ever thought; the gap between alumni
and undergraduates grows even smaller with each call that
is made. Stories are exchanged, jokes are made and new
Phi Psis take in welcomed advice from alumni, as well
as a greater appreciation of just how strong fraternal
bonds can be. So, we hope you might think twice before
you avoid that call from Phi Kappa Psi, if only to share
a few minutes that may forever change a young Phi Psi's
life. |
