Outstanding Philanthropist Award - Helen Catherine Stuart and Catherine Stuart Schmoker
It is my pleasure to present the Outstanding Philanthropist Award to two outstanding women. This mother and daughter duo have made a commitment to supporting their organization's Foundation. Two concepts fundamental to the Greek world, legacy and philanthropy are clearly illustrated by the efforts of |
these two women to increase opportunities for their sisters.
Together they have compiled a record of financial support and service that would be hard to match. Helen Catherine Stuart and Catherine Stuart Schmoker have contributed over $300,000 to the Delta Gamma foundation. Creative giving is the phrase that probably best describes the extent of their impact on the recipients of their gifts. Both mother and daughter have found ways to influence programming, to increase the beneficial aspects of existing programs, and to encourage others to do what they can as individuals in those areas. They have expressed leadership in the strongest possible terms, by following the popular maxim; "just do it."
Their philanthropic activities are not limited to just the Greek world. They support several organizations including the University of Nebraska, the Lincoln Women's Club, and the YWCA. One nominator stated that " This dynamic Delta Gamma mother and daughter duo continues to live the Delta Gamma motto, " Do Good" in spirit, word, and deed. Their vision, based on time, treasure and talent has been an inspiration to Delta Gammas everywhere, and has made a difference in the lives of women, and men, everywhere.
It is truly exciting to be able to present the outstanding philanthropist awards to Helen Catherine Stuart and her daughter Catherine Stuart Schmoker. Please join me in congratulating our winners!

Outstanding Volunteer Award - Debbie Seebold Evans
The first is the Outstanding Volunteer Award being presented this year to Debbie Seebold Evans of Delta Gamma. Debbie's leadership, commitment, inspiration, and drive have advanced the Foundation's mission during her tenure - clarifying its vision for the future, strengthening the organization's overall effectiveness and philanthropic impact, and benefiting countless lives as a result.
Since taking office, she has personally raised over $85,000 in donations and worked to help several |
undergraduate chapters create endowed scholarship funds. The personal and professional contributions that our recipient makes on behalf of her Foundation are well known. She has been recognized by her organization with the Cable award, which recognizes alumnae for personal devotion and continued service to the Fraternity. In addition, she serves a dual role as both a director of the foundation and a director of the fraternity. She has been recognized on countless occasions by her organization. Tonight it is our turn to celebrate her contribution to Delta Gamma. Please join me in congratulating Debbie Seebold Evans the winner of the Outstanding Foundation Volunteer award.

William D. Jenkins
Outstanding Professional Of The Year
Robert L. Off,
Farmhouse Foundation
Our last award recognizes an individual foundation professional who is a leader in the field and who practices his or her profession in an exemplary manner. The William D. Jenkins Outstanding Foundation Professional award is presented annually by the NICF to a professional that embodies the high ideals and commitment to the industry of Bill Jenkins. Would all past recipients of this award that are with us tonight please stand.
Our award winner has had a long and distinguished career in the fraternal world. Having served as both executive director of his fraternity and the foundation this individual was instrumental in the tremendous growth enjoyed by both groups. He is also the only individual in |
the last 30 years to serve as both President of FEA and CFEA. However, it is because of his time at the helm of the foundation that we recognize him tonight.
When he started as the full time executive director of the foundation the organization's net assets were $846,395. Today the net assets of the Foundation stand at over $5,000,000. He was also responsible for initiating and coordinating the Foundation's first ever capital campaign in celebration of the fraternity's 100th anniversary. At the completion of the campaign in 2005, the foundation surpassed the goal significantly. Because of the success of the campaign several endowed funds were created to support the educational and leadership training initiatives of the fraternity.
Ken File of Delta Tau Delta stated that "while doing research for this nomination my respect and admiration for him has only increased. His quiet manner and uncompromising standards represent the very spirit of the award." The awards committee agreed wholeheartedly with that statement. Please join us in recognizing a true giant in the interfraternal world the 2007 recipient of the William D. Jenkins Outstanding Professional Award Robert L. Off!
