Leadership Network Launches The Innovation Lab
Leadership Network is dedicated to connecting like-minded leaders who believe in the late management guru Peter Drucker’s definition of innovation--a change that makes a difference in performance. Our Innovation Lab will take you beyond typical brainstorming exercises and will catapult you into radical innovative action that catalyzes change. Involve your team in this unique experience beginning with the Women’s Ministry RadicalFuture, or the Multi-site Church JumpStart.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Is your church looking for the chance to explore new ideas and discover a new path? Do you sometimes feel caught between ideas and action? You’re not alone. That’s why Leadership Network has developed The Innovation Lab, a unique environment designed to help you overcome the common obstacles to innovative thinking and problem solving in developing a ministry area:

  Working on the wrong problem
  Judging ideas too quickly
  A climate that discourages creativity
Getting stuck in the weeds (obstacles)
  Faulty or delayed implementation

There will be two tracks launched in 2009:

ABOUT THE INNOVATION LAB PROCESS
It begins with an on-site, two-day lab experience designed to take your team from where you are to where you need to go. Your team will look honestly at what’s not working and why, explore roadblocks and develop both radical and incremental process plans to move you through.

Additionally, your team will participate in two online lab days spaced six and 12 months out from the initial gathering. Our expert facilitator will connect you via live video with other teams where you’ll have the chance to share team updates, formalize your assessment of success and needed improvements and dive into your unique sticking points. The final online lab day
will focus on implementation updates and unique exercises in continued forward movement and innovation impact and assessment. In addition we’ll uniquely customize one-hour sessions based on your teams needs, providing opportunity for on-the-spot troubleshooting and realignment.

WHAT MAKES IT A LAB INSTEAD OF A WORKSHOP?
From our physical meeting space to our facilitation methods, you’ll be taken out of the ordinary workshop experience to an unexpected discovery based approach. Be prepared to move and create, stretch and explore. You’ll release your creativity by manipulating objects and transitioning to different discovery and learning stations. Using the latest in innovative thinking processes and the most talented facilitators, we’ll transport you from sitting and soaking to moving and doing.

WHY IT WORKS:
We know just talking about ideas is not enough. It takes careful assessment, decision making and action. We’ll take you through the Innovative Decision Process, designed to propel you forward and help you navigate roadblocks. We’ll move your team through:

Knowledge--> Understanding--> Decision/Action

These processes, conducted with presence, a sense of discovery and a work to win attitude lead to the kind of conversations that yield real results.

Through this process, you’ll move from discovery to making specialized plans that suit your specific ministry needs, finalized by assessing your results over a 12 month period. Your team won’t just sit and talk. You’ll experiment, collaborate, refine and retool. We promise it will be the hardest work your team has ever done.

WHO PARTICIPATES?
The Lab Process is designed for a maximum of 8 church teams, each team consisting of 3 members, all dedicated to change and innovative process thinking. Church teams should include leaders with decision-making authority and responsibility. Leadership Network reserves the right to select churches based on the following criteria:

  Proven Innovator in church ministry
Open to new ideas and a desire to change
Commitment to a 12 month term and participation of a team of three decision-makers for full process.

FEES
Participation in the Innovation Lab is $1,500 for a team of three payable prior to the onsite meeting.
