Boost Update
Last year, all four schools in the El Segundo
Unified School District earned a grant of
at least $1,000 each in
the successful BOOST YOUR SCHOOL! campaign.
As a result of the campaign, the number
of Foundation donors grew by more than 51%,
with many families demonstrating a vested
interest in the success of ESUSD students.
The middle school and high school both
earned a $1,000
grant last year and Center Street School
earned a $2,500
grant to invest in computer lab software
ugrades, while Richmond Street School used
their $2,500 grant—the
result of 91% family participation—towards
the purchase of a rock climbing wall for
their playground. The 2008 Wish List includes
items like: computer software, a special
school-wide art project at Richmond Street,
a leadership program at the high school,
sports equipment and a document camera.

This year’s BOOST YOUR SCHOOL! campaign
runs through January 31, 2008. All donations received
since July 1, 2007 will count towards the BOOST
YOUR SCHOOL! goal. When at least 25% of the families
at each school contribute $30 or more to the ESEF
by January 31st deadline, that school will earn
a $1,000 grant. Schools reaching
50% participation will receive a $2,500
grant.
Every school has the opportunity to receive an
additional $500 bonus grant when
100% of families participate by the deadline.
(Note: Each ESUSD child in the family will receive
“credit” for their school from the
family’s contribution.)
As of November 30, 2007, the family participation
percentages are:
Preschool – 20%
Center Street – 32% (achieved
$1,000 goal)
Richmond Street – 39% (achieved
$1,000 goal)
ESMS – 16%
ESHS – 12%
We encourage your family to participate in the
BOOST YOUR SCHOOL! challenge, and help ALL
of our schools reach their goal of at least 25%
family participation. It’s a great opportunity
to get involved and help provide an extra gift
to our local public schools. Don’t miss
the January 31st deadline! Make
your gift online today at www.elsegundoedfoundation.org;
by mail to ESEF, PO Box 591, El Segundo; or in
person at the school or District offices. |
