Take Stock in Education

The end of the year is just around the corner and with it comes tax season. This brief illustration provides an example of how contributions of appreciated stock to the ESEF can not only help lower your 2007 tax bill but also make a big difference for students in the El Segundo Unified School District.

Boost Update

This year’s BOOST YOUR SCHOOL! Campaign is in full swing since its kick-off on October 8th. All four schools in the El Segundo Unified School District are vying once again to earn grants of $1,000 or more to purchase educational Wish List items. Every ESUSD family is encouraged to participate in BOOST YOUR SCHOOL!, since every student has the opportunity to benefit from increasing family involvement in the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

The middle school and Center Street both earned a $1,000 grant last year to invest in upgrades to their computer labs, while Richmond Street School used their $2,500 grant—the result of 91% family participation—towards the purchase of a rock climbing wall for their playground. The 2008 Wish List includes items like:

computer software, a special school-wide art project at Richmond Street, activities related to freshman orientation at the high school, sports equipment and a document camera.
Local Corporations Demonstrate Increased Interest in Fostering Excellence

Many local corporations have recently renewed their giving to the ESEF or joined the Corporate Partners program for the first time. These companies play a significant role in the success and forward progress of the El Segundo Educational Foundation. Biennial Fundraiser at McCormick & Schmick's – Save the Date

It’s time once again to save the date for the 2008 Biennial Event at McCormick & Schmick’s, one of the ESEF’s most popular and well-attended gatherings. Tickets will go on sale in mid-January for the fundraising gala, which will be held on
Monday, February 25, 2008, at McCormick & Schmick’s on Rosecrans Avenue in El Segundo.
