ESEF Tile Bench Dedication

Mayor Kelly McDowell and Assemblyman Ted Lieu will be on hand for the October 28th dedication. Everyone is invited to attend this community event that will showcase the beautiful fountain area and tiled bench, covered with six-by-six inch painted ceramic tiles, artfully decorated by local families and school children.

Last year, hundreds of students and their families purchased and hand-painted the ceramic tiles that now cover a seat wall in the Children's Fountain Area. The tile
project is a partnership between the El Segundo Educational Foundation and Plaza El Segundo to raise additional funds for the Foundation's Fostering Excellence in Education campaign in support of El Segundo's public schools.

By purchasing and decorating a tile, local residents can leave their mark on the newly developed Plaza El Segundo, located on Sepulveda Blvd. just north of Rosecrans Avenue. A limited number of tiles are still available on a first come, first serve basis. Tiles may be purchased for a $50 tax-deductible contribution which entitles budding artists to paint their very own 6 X 6-inch ceramic tile. Color Me Mine Studio will be set up in the area both days during the event for anyone who would like to purchase and paint a tile and support El Segundo's public schools.

The ESEF wishes to express its appreciation to Plaza El Segundo for its recent $200,000 gift, the first installment of a $1 million pledge to support the El Segundo Educational Foundation's endowment fund.
