New Campaign, Continued Excellence!
Please support the Foundation’s pledge to grant $500,000 this school year.
This year’s Fostering Excellence in Education campaign is the Foundation’s most ambitious fundraising endeavor in its 23-year history, and we’re counting on continued support from our loyal donors to give the campaign an early boost. With |

your help, our community will pool its charitable resources to grant $500,000 to the El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD) during the 2006-2007 academic year.
This extraordinary fundraising goal follows the successful completion of our last Fostering Excellence campaign, which granted $300,000 to the ESUSD in 2005-2006. This year’s grant will invest $500,000 in programs that would not be possible without these supplemental funds. Similar to the last campaign, this grant is earmarked for technology enhancements throughout the ESUSD including equipment ($160,000), support and training ($90,000); writing skills ($50,000); and art and music programs ($125,000) for the District’s 3,200 students. This year funding initiatives also include allocations for elementary physical education ($20,000) and a robotics program ($55,000) for middle and high school students to provide them with advanced instruction in science and engineering and introduce them to college and career options in related fields.
Through its ongoing support, the community has indicated a strong desire to invest in our schools. Everyone wants to be part of the solution, which is to help preserve the high standard of education for which El Segundo schools are known. Every Corporate Partner, Superintendent’s Roundtable member, and individual donor can take credit for the Foundation’s success. Large or small, each contribution to our Fostering Excellence in Education campaigns propels the ESEF toward our annual fundraising goals.
The California Department of Education recently published the 2006 rankings for unified schools districts. Based on the impressive API scores from last spring’s standardized tests, taken by second through eleventh graders, ESUSD students once again earned the District a place on the list of top ten unified school districts in Los Angeles County. Their results also earned the District bragging rights, as ESUSD achieved the second-highest growth reported county-wide, quite a feat considering the size of our District and how high its scores were to begin with!
The Foundation’s ability to provide significant grants to the ESUSD each year is a team effort, one the District continues to credit with strengthening its instructional programs. ESUSD’s rank among the state’s top performing school districts confirms that our students are getting a tremendous return on your investment.
Through the community’s ongoing support, the ESEF has granted more than $768,000 to the ESUSD in the last three years alone. The goal to fulfill this year’s $500,000 pledge will be reached one donation at a time. Why not set an example for your friends and neighbors?
